"Literature is at bottom a criticism of life, " means that the most important thing about literature is that it judges. I agree with this statement. There are examples of this in the novel "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte.life. The author uses the plot to describe how the people in Gateshead Hall treat Jane unwell by using a sad mood to demonstrate how unhappy Jane is to live with her aunt and her cousins. Her cousin hits her, and her aunt locks her up in the Red-Room. It makes her sick. Later, the author uses the plot again to turn over Jane's life. Her aunt sends her to the school in Lowood. She is happy there. There, she makes a friendship with Helen Burns. Jane has learned lot things about life from her. I think this is a great book. The author uses the literary elements in a smart way to attract the reader's attention and to criticize how the environment influences a person's life.
